About The Role:

Are you ready for an exciting new step in your veterinary nursing career? This fantastic opportunity is for an experienced Registered Equine Veterinary Nurse (REVN) with excellent horse handling and clinical skills to enhance the day-to-day operations of our practice. You will be deeply involved in first opinion equine veterinary nursing, including theatre nursing, advanced dentistry, in-patient care, and lameness work-ups. Additionally, you will support and develop our nursing team of eight, which includes another REVN and two student EVNs, making clinical coaching experience a valuable asset.

The Practice:

This is a busy, independent, mixed practice based in  Northamptonshire, with an equine department offering comprehensive services such as ambulatory, diagnostic, reproductive, and surgical services. Their equine nursing team supports 11 equine vets, including an internal medicine certificate holder, serving clients across six counties. With a varied mix of leisure and competition horses, they handle a high orthopaedic and first opinion caseload.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Nursing Care: Provide high standards of nursing care in theatre nursing, advanced dentistry, in-patient care, lameness work-ups, lab work, Schedule 3 procedures, radiography, and theatre nursing.
  • Team Leadership: Daily management and organization of the nursing team across our two equine clinics, ensuring high standards of care.
  • Training and Development: Support and develop the nursing team, including clinical coaching of student EVNs.
  • Communication: Maintain excellent communication with the nursing team, clinicians, and clients, contributing to the management team and upholding clinical standards.
  • Adaptability: Effectively plan and prioritise tasks, adapting to sudden changes while ensuring high patient and client care.

About You:

  • Experience: Must be an experienced REVN with strong horse handling and clinical skills.
  • Leadership: Ability to lead and manage a team, with previous experience in clinical coaching being advantageous.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, enthusiasm, and resilience are essential.
  • Adaptability: Ability to multitask and adapt to sudden changes, planning and prioritizing effectively in line with business needs.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-Time Position: Includes an equal share in the out-of-hours on-call rota, currently one night per week and one weekend in five.
  • Support: Receive support from the Nurse Team Manager, Deputy Head Equine Nurse, and Equine Partners.
